Andhra Pradesh Government is providing several subsidies for small films. Tax exemptions will be given to films meeting the requirements. AP Govt has made a crucial decision to exempt state GST of 9 % for small films. AP Film Development Corporation Chairman Ambika Krishna has made an official statement regarding GST exemption that the Govt already issued a GO No 116 to fulfill this. Speaking with media in AP Secretariat on Tuesday Ambika Krishna said, ” Encouraging small films will lead to an increase in employment. AP state Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu has taken this decision of encouraging small films to develop the film industry in Andhra Pradesh. We decided to provide subsidies for films made within a budget of 4 crores. Though there are many financial difficulties in building the new capital, CM Chandra Babu Naidu has taken this decision to stand with the development of Film Industry in AP. As per Government rules, these subsidies will be applicable to films made in AP. As there are few available resources, there will be some exceptions regarding post-production work. Free location permissions will be given to small films. For this, the producer should pay caution deposit which will be refunded after the shoot. We will provide permissions in single window manner through FDC. Tax reimbursement will be given to these films. For films made within a budget of 4 crores, state GST of 9% will be deducted out of total GST of 18 %. Small films dubbing and post-production must be done in AP. Except the remunerations paid to the actors and technicians, all other remaining production budgets should be given to APFDC prior to shooting. Subsidies will be released only after APFDC’s approval whether the entire film has been made within the state or not. These rules will not be amended. Films showcasing Culture, Traditions, Values will be given 10 lakhs. This incentive will be given to 15 selective small films per annum. To select these 15 films a committee will be formed with popular personalities in the industry. The government will provide an incentive to build studios on 316 acres around Rama Naidu Studio which are located at Bheemili Road, Vizag. For this, we have requested to reconsider the current price which is 50 lakhs per acre. Already Nandamuri Balakrishna and AVM Studios have registered applications to build studios. CM Chandra Babu Naidu may lay foundation stone to these studios. Even though the film industry is being controlled by a few people, they are not benefitting from it. Screening 5 shows per day is an advantage for big heroes films on the first day. Later on, there were some cases where many shows have been canceled. APFDC is considering the suggestion given by journalists to allow one show for small films in 4 shows daily. Nandi Awards for 5 years will be awarded in a grand event during November, December.
Government Manager Sai, Ambika Ramachandra Rao were also present at this press meet.
